Presented by Centre for Subtropical Design as part of Riverfestival
Listen to the sounds of your city with fresh ears as Hearing the city delivers an original Brisbane concerto composed of the noises and vibrations of our built and natural environment.
Focusing on the sounds of the Brisbane river valley, Hearing the city develops a set of evocative sound collages that reflect the changing qualities of place as the river weaves through the subtropical urban fabric.
A series of speakers and installation presented by the Centre for Subtropical Design, this presentation provides an 'auditory' filter for the interpretation of qualities of our physical environment. Hearing the city seeks to 'listen' to the natural and built world and to understand our present, and imagine future, aural landscapes.
Brisbane River Audio Stream
The sound collages will be incorporated into the Brisbane River Audio Stream, an installation of interactive sound totems placed along an abstracted river course meandering through the Infozone at the State Library of Queensland.
The Brisbane River Audio Stream exhibition is open for the duration of Riverfestival.
