RegattaFest – a weekend of oarsome action and awesome fun!
The RegattaFest weekend celebrations kick off on Saturday afternoon with live entertainment, including the crowning of Mr RegattaFest 2007, raising the roof well into the evening at the Regatta Hotel. As the spectacular Riverfire sets Brisbane alight on Saturday night, the Regatta Hotel also makes for a great viewing location complete with post-event celebrations, headlined this year by ARIA Award-winning rockers, Taxiride.
Sunday afternoon sees the Toowong reach of the river come alive with action, both on and around the river, including the historic rowing regatta and the popular Great Brisbane Duck Race. As night falls, the winner of Miss RegattaFest 2007 will be announced, followed by Australia’s hottest outfit TV Rock featuring Seany B, one of the Australia’s premier HipHouse acts.
Based at the Brisbane River’s grand first lady, the iconic Regatta Hotel, RegattaFest is a weekend of fun and games, with the traditional “Head of the River” style rowing event just one of the highlights. Since early last century, the best of the best have rowed their way into Regatta folklore and, with the inclusion of corporate and celebrity teams, it is a spectacle not to be missed.
Lucky Ducky, You’re the One
Never was there a greater sight than thousands of yellow rubber duckies racing as fast as the current will take them to the Regatta Hotel. Where else would you see such a fantastic spectacle, raising much needed funds for the Princess Alexandra Hospital Foundation, but at The Great Brisbane Duck Race!
You can adopt a duck by phoning 07 3240 2359. Ducks cost just $5 each, $15 for a Family (4 ducks) or $25 for a Flock (7). You can even buy a Flush (16) for $50, a Flotilla (35) for $100 or a $250 Fleet (100) of ducks! Corporate packages are also available.
Cheer your duck as it races the 200 metre course towards glory. If it crosses the line first, drive away in your brand new Mitsubishi Colt VRX!
