As part of Riverfestival in association with Brisbane City Council and Greening Australia
Join the party and get involved in a community effort to bring the green back to Brisbane.
Brisbane became a municipality on 7 September, 1859, and to celebrate this anniversary, we have replaced candles on a cake with living trees to contribute to offsetting the carbon emissions created by Brisbane’s favourite festival, Riverfestival.
Teaming up with Brisbane City Council’s City Smart team, Greening Australia’s Breathe Easy campaign and QBE, Riverfestival delivers Greening Our City. Together with our community, we can progress towards Brisbane City Council’s Living in Brisbane 2026 vision by restoring 40% of Brisbane to natural habitat by 2026.
Come plant a tree, enjoy the sausage sizzle and entertainment, and find out more about how you can green your city with the BCC Catchment Coordinators and City Smart vans.
Afterwards, bring your picnic blanket and revel in your contribution to making Brisbane Australia’s leading clean and green city while enjoying a special movie in the park screening of Academy Award winning films, Télévision de Radio-Canada’s The Man Who Planted Trees (1987) and An Inconvenient Truth (2006).
