New Annual Brisbane Festival
Brisbane will be home to Australia's biggest arts festival from next year with the Brisbane Festival and Riverfestival merging into one festival called Brisbane Festival.

Brisbane Festival 2009 will be held from 12 September to 3 October, with QBE Riverfire on Saturday 12 September.

For three weeks extraordinary international and Australian artists and productions, free world-class events, emerging fringe theatre, inspiring conversation and debate will fill the theatres, parks and suburban streets for Brisbane Festival 2009.  

2009 will be one of the most exciting years in Brisbane as Brisbane Festival will be presented in its new annual format and coincide with celebrations to mark the sesquicentenary of Brisbane and Queensland’s foundations.

Brisbane Festival 2009 programme will be released in June 2009.

Spectator vessels on the Brisbane River for QBE Riverfire
 
For public safety reasons, Marine Safety Queensland closes sections of the Brisbane River during QBE Riverfire and regulations are put in place to manage the spectator fleet attending the event. This includes two dedicated mooring zones in the Town reach of the river, with a strictly limited number of mooring positions.
 
Recreational boat owners wishing to watch QBE Riverfire from the closed sections of the Brisbane River need to apply in person for an Entry Permit Flag to gain access to the dedicated spectator mooring zones.
 
Distribution of QBE Riverfire Entry Permit Flags:
 
When: Wednesday 5 August from 9am - 11am (or untill flags are distributed)
 
Where: Glenelg Lawn, South Bank (off Little Stanley Street, adjacent to the Piazza)
 
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
  • You must bring your Queensland Department of Transport Vessel Registration Notice and a completed Entry Permit Flag registration form.
  • It is strongly recommended that you arrive early as in previous years, queues have started forming from sunrise.
  • Unlike previous years, only one Entry Permit Flag will be issued per person (i.e. you can not collect a flag for yourself and a friend).
  • There are a limited number of Entry Permit Flags available and they will be issued on a first come, first servied basis.
  • Entry permit flags are free.
  • Entry Permit Flags will only be available on Wednesday 5 August from the QBE Riverfire Outlet and can not be applied for via the website, only in person as detailed above.
